If you have more than 100 samples, we recommend high-throughput metabolome profiling to identify relevant samples or relevant metabolites. For metabolome profiling we directly inject samples into our Agilent 6546 time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometer (without chromatographic separation). This method requires only 1 minute per analysis and allows to screen a high number of samples (up to 1000 per day). Metabolites are only annotated based on their exact mass at the MS1 level. This results in a low level of annotation confidence and usually needs follow-up studies of the relevant metabolites.
